My Story
At an early age I always knew I wanted to work for myself…I just did not have any idea how or exactly what it was I would do! I was 12 years old the first time I heard the word *Entrepreneur*. I wasn’t 100% sure what it meant but I had the understanding that it had to do with having your own business and being the boss! That was who I wanted to be. By the time I got to high school I figured I would get a head start by registering for Business Professionals of America, a work program allowing juniors and seniors to be released early if they worked in an office setting after school. Work experience was the best way to acquire the skills needed to own and operate a business. So I thought! The road I thought was leading me to Entrepreneurship only led me to the road most of Americans are on now. The road to the world of working a JOB I hate and living pay check to pay check! I continued on that path for many many years. I held all kinds of jobs, in every industry from retail to food service, customer service to travel, technology to education; even had a full time job as I worked my way through college. It seems like every time I got a better job and made more money I had more bills, bought more stuff and got further and further in debt, never getting ahead.
While finishing up my Bachelors Degree and working in the school district as a Speech Pathologist Assistant, I was introduced to the film industry. I fell in love with the process of making movies and I finally felt passion for something. I worked as a Casting director, eventually quitting my job and starting my own company, Scene II Casting Co. I was so proud…in my early 20’s as a single parent; I had finally become an Entrepreneur doing something that I love. This was it and it had to work. I was traveling, attending and working high profile events, working with celebrities and making independent films and music videos. This was the life! Or was it? It was fun and exciting, however I worked long hours and traveled frequently, which took away time from my son and made it difficult to date or maintain personal relationships. It was definitely ALL WORK and I was totally consumed by my business and all the debt I accumulated trying to keep it afloat.
As the economy turned for the worse, business was slow and it became hard for me to afford my bills and my lifestyle. During that time I decided to start over by relocating and trying to break into the film industry in Atlanta. It was definitely up and coming at the time and I had more family support there. But God had other plans for me….
I hadn’t been living in Atlanta a month before I met my husband. Of course I didn’t know he would be my husband at the time, nor was I even looking to date. I was living with relatives, trying to get back on my feet and actually ashamed of my circumstances. I had achieved so much yet I had nothing to show for it. He did not care that I didn’t have my own place or that my business was failing. He wanted to get to know ME for who I was, not what I had or what I did. This was so refreshing for me, because I always thought to attract a certain type of man I had to be successful and have my resume and accomplishments in order.
Tim and I dated, fell in love and got married. When we met, he was coming out of college and entering the NFL. This was great and we were both excited about his future, however I knew that I would have to take a break from entertainment. My husband is a free agent and has played with several teams. We never know when we may have to move or where we’ll live the following year. This lifestyle makes it hard to build relationships and network. It took me years to build the reputation I had in Chicago as a well known and well respected Casting Director. Every time you relocate it’s like starting all over. So I decided early on in our relationship that I would put my aspirations on hold to support his career and stay home with our children. When I made that decision, I don’t think I realized that even though my husband was in the NFL, I may one day have to consider going back to work. For some reason I thought I could stay home with my kids and I would never have to work again unless I wanted to. Unfortunately that was no longer our reality and when I realized I needed to step up and contribute to our finances I had 2 children, one under the age of 1. I knew I did not want to work a 9-5 job. I had a Bachelor’s Degree; however, I needed to go back to school to get my Master’s in order to work in my field of Speech Pathology. Now I had already experienced business ownership and I did not want to put us further in debt going back to school, so what other options did I have? My husband and I started looking into franchising and vending machines among other bright ideas I had. While researching different business opportunities I decided that I did not want to spend a fortune on business, nor did I want to have to be there all the time. I wanted to be able to work for myself from my home. This began my time consuming internet search for legitimate work at home opportunities. After many misses, I finally got a hit and my relationship with the world of Network Marketing and Direct Sales began!
Although it hasn’t been an easy ride, it has been a great one. I have learned so much, met wonderful people and made lifelong friends. Who knew that you could really run a business from your home with your laptop and cell phone? It’s the greatest thing ever! Low start-up investment, low risk and you have the company’s support and a team behind you to show you the way. I wish I had that kind of support when I started my casting company. Ready-made websites, marketing material, training and a proven system. I make my own schedule and learned how to effectively manage my time around my 2 year old who’s home with me all day. I am available to travel and can visit my husband when he’s away. Also, I have peace of mind knowing that I can work anywhere, so it doesn’t matter how many times we move. I am proud to say that I have been coached, trained and mentored by some of the most successful people in the network marketing industry. Early on after hearing their stories and getting the opportunity to speak with some of them one on one, I realized that THEY are no different than me. So if SHE can do it I can do it! And if I can do it, YOU can do it!
Remember it’s not my opinion, it’s a fact; Network Marketing creates more millionaires than ANY OTHER INDUSTRY!! I’m on my way and you can be too! Let me show you how!
